Generally, sites with average wind speeds of 6.5 m/s (14.5 mph) or higher at hub height are considered economically viable. However, factors like electricity prices, land costs, and incentives also affect feasibility. We provide detailed wind resource assessments to determine your site's potential.
For utility-scale projects, the payback period is typically 7-12 years depending on wind resource, project costs, electricity prices, and available incentives. Corporate PPAs often have no upfront investment, with immediate savings. We provide detailed financial modeling for each project.
While turbines themselves occupy only 1-3 acres each, wind farms typically use 50-100 acres per MW when accounting for spacing, access roads, and setbacks. However, 98% of land remains available for agricultural or other uses - making wind energy compatible with farming and ranching.
